"To those who my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine."

Delta Zeta’s philanthropy benefits those who are speech or hearing impaired. Our national philanthropic partner is the Starkey Hearing Foundation. This foundation gives the gift of hearing to people in need by raising money to build speech clinics around the world. In 2015, Delta Zeta has pledged to raise $5 million by 2020 for the Starkey Hearing Foundation. On the other hand, our local philanthropic partner is the American School for the Deaf, which is located right in West Hartford, Connecticut. Finally, our last partner is the Painted Turtle Camp, which is Delta Zeta’s National Service Project. This is a summer camp located in Lake Hughes, California that enriches the lives of children with serious medical conditions. Delta Zeta sisters from around the country look forward to volunteering at this camp every year.

In addition to working with our partners, the Pi Beta chapter also takes pride in the philanthropy events that we hold both on and off campus. One of our annual events include Delta Zeta Dodgeball, which we host every year during Philanthropy Week. Another annual event is our Hike for Hearing. Every year, we invite other Greek chapters and organizations to join us on our hike. In addition to these yearly events, Pi Beta has hosted new events in the past year. We also hosted the Greekly Wed Game, where we asked questions to Greek life couples about each other. Our most recent event was Soccer for Starkey — a soccer tournament between all of the Greek chapters on campus. Delta Zeta looks forward to continuing our yearly philanthropy events as well as coming up with ideas for new ones.

HEART FOR HEARING

"SO THAT THE WORLD MAY HEAR"

heartlogo.png

As the only premier women’s organization with a focus on Speech and Hearing, we use our philanthropy to protect hearing, raise awareness of noise-induced hearing loss and to bring the gift of hearing to people with hearing loss around the world. Speech and Hearing have been our philanthropy focus since 1954. And now, thanks to our partnership with Starkey Hearing Foundation whose missions help the world to hear, we can use philanthropy to improve lives through giving the gift of hearing.

Our goal to raise $5,000,000 through Delta Zeta’s Heart for Hearing will help the Starkey Hearing Foundation continue traveling the world to provide hearing aids, hearing healthcare and speech therapy to those in need.

To our members, may we continue to give graciously of what is ours.

To our friends and family, we thank you for your encouragement and invite you to participate by sponsoring a friend or family member’s Heart for Hearing efforts.
